Project Scope
In August 2023, Gulf Civil was appointed as the successful tenderer for DRFA Restoration works for the repair of numerous roads within The Goondiwindi Regional Council. Goondiwindi Region Council is a local government area located in the Darling Downs region of Queensland, along the state’s border with NSW.
The project involved various pavement treatment based on the QRA treatment guidelines, with works varying from small patch repairs to large full reconstructs taking place on rural roads within GRC.This project was able to meet the Client and Community expectations.
Over the duration of the project, the project management team overcame several challenges, these including:
- Programming, planning, and minimizing the impacts of wet weather.
- Haulage and supply of material on time.
- Employing and Training local workers for future community benefit.
- Cultural heritage and community engagement management.
- Ability to maintain a supply chain of required materials, supplies and maintenance consumables for the project within a remote regional area.
- Maintaining a strong working relationship with local community stakeholders.
Project Scope
The roads that the project was spread over included: Beebo – 17 Mile Rd; Bonshaw Weir Rd; Cunningham Weir Rd; Old Texas Yelarbon Rd; to name but a few, and major works taking place on Riverton Rd.
These works included:
- Transportation and delivery of all construction materials, from local suppliers.
- Stabilisation of pavement.
- Heavy formation grading.
- Heavy shoulder grading.
- Gravel Resheeting 100mm and 150mm.
- Medium formation grading.
- Bitumen Spray seal, 2 coats.
- Patch Repair with 2 coat seal.
- Pothole repair.
- Reconstruct unbound granular base. Excluding seal.
- Reconstruct unbound granular pavement. Excluding seal.
Key Achievements:
- Client and Community satisfaction.
- Working with the client to commence works under contract at a fast-tracked site possession.
- Client satisfaction and quality works completed on site.
- Employing and training local workers for future community benefits.
- Management team well suited for future remote projects moving forward to provide best outcomes for future potential clients.
- Works completed 2 months ahead of program and on budget.
- Formation and maintenance of a civil construction crew and project management team, which has developed and acquired priceless experience for the delivery of future remote projects.
- Provided and delivered best value for money outcome for both the Council and the QRA.
