Project Scope
Gulf Civil successfully delivered the pavement repair works under Contract T23-1173, issued by the Department of Infrastructure, Planning and Logistics, across multiple sections of the Barkly, Stuart, and Tablelands Highways in the Tennant Creek region. The project was delivered under a Schedule of Rates contract and involved the reconstruction of flood-damaged road sections through cement-modified pavement treatments, spray sealing, line marking, and comprehensive traffic management.
Gulf Civil adhered to strict environmental, safety, and Indigenous engagement requirements, completing the works across seven defined highway packages within the 12-week timeframe. The project was completed in accordance with the Northern Territory Government’s technical and contractual standards.
Pavement Repairs
- Cement modification of existing pavement
- Pulverising and mixing to 200mm depth
- Compaction to 98% MMDD
- Crossfall restoration per standard drawings
Spray Sealing
- AMC5 primer seal with 14mm pre-coated stone
- Application rate: 1.40 L/m² (wet)
- Sealing to be done after 24 hours of pavement curing
- Shuttle-flowed traffic management during sealing
Protection Works (Tablelands Highway Only)
- Removal and disposal of damaged concrete margins
- Construction of new reinforced concrete margins
Line Marking
- Required after sealing both lanes
- Must follow application timeframes
- Temporary markers only with Superintendent’s approval
Traffic Management
- Shuttle-flowed arrangements
- Compliance with NTG traffic control standards
Environmental and Indigenous Requirements
- Indigenous Development Plan (IDP) required
- Environmental Management Plan (EMP) required
- Compliance with NT environmental and cultural heritage laws
