Project Scope
Gulf Civil were awarded the Beach Road Upgrade project to upgrade a section of the Beach Road following on from the successful completion of the 2018/19 DRFA project.
The project, for Palm Island Aboriginal Shire Council, was completed on time and on budget with excellent reviews from all parties involved.
The location of upgrade was at Beach Road in Palm Island which was the main access to the barge/ferry terminal, we were able to effectively divert the traffic through a sidetrack to ensure the day to day operations on the Island.
The project scope of works includes the following QRA treatments:
- Removal and demolition of culverts and slab structures
- Clearing and grubbing
- Stripping of topsoil
- Subgrade Preparation
- Concrete kerb and channel, Type 14
- Concrete channel, Dish Drain Type 28
- Remove and Reinstate existing chamber wall
- Supply and place reinforcing mesh SL82
- Place Council supplied concrete in jointed reinforced base, Heavy Duty Grade 40/20
Project Summary
- Project completed well ahead of program and on budget.
- Excellent reviews from the client for quality of work
- Placed 190.8m3 of concrete in the construction of 864m2 of Heavy Duty Grade 40/20 concrete pavement
Highlights & Outcomes
- Gulf Civil mobilised on short notice to complete works to maintain road safety.
- Gulf Civil successfully managed logistics and safety, environmental and quality compliance documentation
- Employing and Training local workers for future community benefit.
- Sustained a positive relationship and ongoing work with the client.
- Poured 190.8m3 of concrete in the construction of200mm thick 40MPa Heavy Duty Concrete Pavement.
- The team came up with a cost effective and time efficient design solution for a RCP encountered below the subgrade without sufficient cover to the concrete pavement.
