Project Scope

Gulf Civil were successful in the tender for the Doomadgee East road culverts and road upgrade for the Burke shire Council in September 2020.

Going above and beyond to meet this deadline was a great success to the Gulf team and our new Client.

The following project scope involves various pavement treatments and bitumen sealing based on the QRA treatment guidelines with works varying from small patch repairs to large full reconstructs taking place on rural roads as well as throughout the town streets of Richmond.

The restoration works consisted of the following:

  • Excavation
  • Embankment
  • Sub base
  • Subgrade
  • Subgrade replacement

Project Challenges

Over the duration of the project, the project management team overcame several challenges including:

  • Programming, Planning, and minimizing impacts of wet weather within a monsoonal region.
  • Logistically planning and procuring for best outcome delivery of gravel requirement within a narrow tidal range and shallow entry port
  • Cultural Heritage and community engagement management
  • Ability to maintain a supply chain of required materials, supplies and maintenance consumables for the project within a remote region
  • Maintaining a strong working relationship with local community stakeholders.
