Project Scope
Gulf Civil successfully delivered the construction of a 9-lot residential subdivision as part of Stage 1B of a broader reconfiguration of Lots 81 and 98 on SP272069 in Kowanyama, Queensland. This stage formed part of a larger initiative to transform two existing lots into 24 residential lots.
As the principal contractor, Gulf Civil was responsible for delivering all civil works and essential infrastructure to support the development of 9 new residential lots. The project was completed in collaboration with the Kowanyama Aboriginal Shire Council and Langtree Consulting, who provided project management and engineering services.
Indigenous Employment and Business Plan
- Target of 600 Indigenous employment hours and $250,000 in Indigenous business expenditure.
- Monthly reporting and compliance with Queensland Government Training Policy.
Civil Infrastructure
- Roadworks: Construction of internal roads, kerbs, concrete driveways, and footpaths.
- Earthworks: Site clearing, stripping, cut and fill operations, and pad preparation.
- Pavement: 300mm deep pavement with chip seal surfacing.
Stormwater Drainage
- Installation of DN375–DN525 reinforced concrete pipes, gully pits, manholes, and swales.
- Hydraulic design and erosion/sediment control measures.
Sewerage Reticulation
- Installation of DN150 uPVC SN8 sewer pipes.
- Connection to existing sewer infrastructure.
- Property connections and manholes.
Water Reticulation
- Installation of DN150 and DN100 mPVC water mains.
- Fire hydrants, valves, meters, and thrust blocks.
- Live connection to existing water mains.
Electrical and Communications
- Underground conduits and cabling.
- Installation of a pole-mounted transformer and street lighting.
- Compliance with Ergon Energy standards.
Environmental Management
- Erosion and sediment control plans.
- Stabilized site access, sediment fencing, and swale construction.
