Project Scope
In June of 2023, Gulf Civil was the successful tenderer for the 2023 Drainage Works on Lockhart River Road for the Cook Shire Council in Northern Queensland.
The work involved construction of a two-lane culvert crossing and marrying into existing road. Having the high skilled manpower and resources the project started on time and achieved its estimated completion date. Also, this project was able to meet the Client and Community expectations.
The project, consisted of the following:
- Demolition of existing causeway slab and disposal to council approval site.
- Construction of two-lane culvert crossing and marrying into existing road
- Installation/replacement of RCP culverts
- Satisfying the permit conditions from State Assessment and Referral Agency
- Satisfying the Grant funding conditions including the Indigenous Participation Plan
Over the duration of the project, the project management team overcame several challenges including:
- Programming, Planning, and minimizing impacts of wet weather.
- Logistically planning and procuring for best outcome delivery of the concrete requirement for the project for FRP works.
- Preparing land down area for the precast RCBC crown units.
- Cultural Heritage and community engagement management.
- Ability to maintain a supply chain of required materials, supplies and maintenance consumables for the project within a remote region
- Maintaining a strong working relationship with local community stakeholders
