Project Scope

In August of 2023, Gulf Civil was the successful tenderer of Subdivision Civil Works, construction of a 19th lots for the Kowanyama Aboriginal Shire Council in Western Cape York Peninsula Queensland The following project work involved following services as new and existing roadworks, pavement and surfacing, storm water drainage and water and sewerage reticulation. Also, this project was able to meet the Client and Community expectations.

Over the duration of the project, the project management team overcame several challenges including:

  • Programming, Planning, and minimizing impacts of wet weather.
  • Commence a staged D&C approach, primarily Civils and Infrastructure works to develop a serviced land subdivision for future residential construction in Stage 1a and 1b.
  • Employing and Training local workers for future community Benefit.
  • Cultural Heritage and community engagement management.
  • Ability to maintain a supply chain of required materials, supplies and maintenance consumables for the project within a remote region.
  • Maintaining a strong working relationship with local community stakeholders.

The project, consisted of the following:

  • Demolition, Clearing and Grubbing of existing features.
  • Bulk and Detail Earthworks
  • Installation of stormwater infrastructure and scour protection
  • Installation of water and sewer reticulation.
  • Construction of reinforced concrete pathway including crossovers, kerb and channel.
  • Supply and installation of roadworks/pavement, roadside furniture and line marking.
  • Service infrastructure from providers – electricity, telecommunication and NBN
  • Soft landscaping where required.
